William Hunt Obituary

William Hunt passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024, after a decline in his health. William was 74 years of age. He lived his young life in Fayetteville, Georgia where he attended both grade school and high school.

After attending Fairburn High School, he served in the United States Army. William served as an Army Sharpshooter during his tour of duty. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he raised his children, Michiko Rainey, Nekimo Hunt, Deandre Washington, and Donte Washington. William had many careers to his credit. His main work was done in the construction industry.

William had the biggest heart and the gentlest spirit. Anyone he met would instantly become a friend. He was a fun-spirited soul who took on many passions. He enjoyed being a DJ, and a fisherman.  He also enjoyed traveling as much as he could. His caring spirit made quite an impact on many lives.

William is preceded in death by his mother Sallie Lou Rainey, and his brothers Larry Rainey and Frank Rainey.

William is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Hunt, daughter Michiko Rainey, sons Nekimo Hunt, Deandre Washington (Summer), and Donte Washington, his father James Rainey, sisters Brenda Barber (George-deceased), Sheraton Johnson (Willie), and Pam Rainey, his brothers Ricky Rainey (Sharonda) and James Rainey, Jr., grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity and strength. He will be missed immensely.
