Sherriline Sims Obituary

Ms. Sherriline Sims was born on September 18, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Jacqueline Mattie Betsy Lee Sims and John Fleming. From an early age, Sherriline exemplified compassion, perseverance, and a heart devoted to serving others. She was the proud granddaughter of Mary Magdalene Sims and Leeroy Sims, who both preceded her in death and helped shape her into the strong woman she became.

A proud graduate of Gordan High School in 1981, Sherriline later earned her Associate’s Degree from Atlanta Metropolitan College in May 2014—an accomplishment that reflected her belief in lifelong learning and personal growth.

Sherriline dedicated many years of her professional life to Clayton County Public Schools, where she served faithfully as the Nutrition Manager. In this role, she made sure every student received not only a nourishing meal but also a warm smile and a listening ear. Her work was a reflection of her heart—nurturing the whole child with dignity and care.

Sherriline's impact extended beyond the school walls. She was a faithful and active member of Christian Missionary Baptist Church, where she was honored to serve as the Health and Wellness Ambassador. In this role, she championed the well-being of her church family, organizing health initiatives and encouraging healthy living rooted in faith and community support. She also served as the New Membership Class teacher at Kingdom Life Changing Center Inc., the ministry led by her beloved son, Pastor George Worrell. There, she welcomed and guided new believers with wisdom, warmth, and a passion for discipleship.

In 2019, Sherriline’s journey took a new direction when she was diagnosed with kidney failure. But even in adversity, her faith remained unwavering. She responded by becoming a fierce advocate, founding KBFI (Kidney Battlers Foundation), an organization that promotes awareness, early detection, and education around kidney health, particularly in the African-American community. Her passion led to the organization of her first health fair on November 4, 2023, at Christian Missionary Baptist Church—an event that left a lasting impact and reflected her purpose-driven heart.

Sherriline was also a published co-author, contributing her voice to the inspirational book Live Your Faith Out Loud. Through her writing, she shared her testimony and encouraged others to boldly walk in their faith no matter the trials they face.

Beyond her work and ministry, Sherriline found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—especially cheering for her beloved Atlanta Falcons. She was a devoted fan who wore her team colors proudly and brought the same passion and loyalty to her fandom as she did to every other area of her life.

She was a devoted mother to her beloved children—Shamika Jones, Tierra Sheely, Morgan Worrell, and George Worrell—and her life was deeply enriched by her cherished grandchildren: Tabious Sheely, Sariyah West, Skyy Hall (Aaliyah), Zion Worrell, Shaniyah Jones, Zoey Worrell, and Chase Worrell, and her great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Sheely. Each of them carries her light forward.

She also leaves to mourn her siblings: Dora Johnson (Charles), Jacqueline L’Bert, and Nathaniel Pace, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Andre Sims (Annie Sims) and aunt Beverly Isom, uncle Arthur Isom, and aunt Vietta Pierce.

Sherriline’s life was a beautiful blend of service, faith, and love. Whether she was preparing a meal, leading a health initiative, offering a listening ear, or simply sharing her story—she did it all with grace, humility, and compassion. Her legacy is a reminder to live boldly, serve faithfully, and love unconditionally.

Though she has transitioned from this earthly life, her spirit remains alive in every life she touched.
