Raquel Jones Obituary

      Raquel Arlene Jones was born on August 13 1968 in gods country Trinidad and Tobago to Angela Jones and Julian Laroche. Raquel spent 19 years of her childhood in Barataria, Trinidad (where she also played Netball for the Trinidad national team). Raquel then moved to New York in 1986 to pursue her fashion designer aspirations; while striving to fulfill her dreams and adjusting to America, Raquel joined the US Army in 1990. While serving in the military Raquel was awarded: Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Superior AWD/Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.

      During her time in the military, MSG Jones was assigned to various places, where she met many people from all over the world. MSG Jones served in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqui freedom from March 2003 to May 2004. Raquel encountered many things while there and made the sacrifice for the Country being away from her children.

      MSG Jones later retired from the Army in 2010 where she served 20 honorable years of service. MSG Jones returned to work as a civilian for Army-Manpower Program as a Management Analyst. She participated in community service by providing food for the homeless in the metro Atlanta area and the New York City area. Raquel was well traveled and made the best of every opportunity.

      Raquel was a loving mother who always put her children first. She was full of love and laughs to share with everyone she encountered to cherish and continue her legacy she leaves her sons Shaquille, Hakeem, Jason, grandchildren Skylan, Kyng, Sebastian, and Keilani. Raquel always lead with a smile and grace. She had great appreciation for the following; Aunt Barbra, Aunty Bunny, Aunt Bebe, Aunt Linda, Gerard Simon, Andrew Simon, Sylma Williams, Barbra Owens, Norma Jean and Toni Smith. Raquel Arlene Jones will be greatly missed. As she would do and say LOVE LAUGH LIVE. May her soul rest in peace.
