What is the measure of a GREAT WOMAN? Is it her accomplishments, her fortunes, or the services she has provided to her community? Well, let me tell you, I was a GREAT WOMAN based on the relationships I made and the way I made people feel. Let me take you down memory lane and share some of my journey with you all..
On May 27, 1971, I blessed my wonderful parents Deborah "Dell" Harrison and James "Mr. Lip" Hardy, with my presence. I was destined to be a great cook from the beginning. Funny thing, I was brought home from the hospital, wrapped in a blanket, inside of a curb market bag. During my childhood, I grew up at 132 4th Avenue with the rest of my cousins and family. Growing up, I loved playing with dolls, swimming, and cooking full meals. Fried chicken has always been my favorite. My mama always called me "Tala Boo”, and I was one of Mama Dot's favorites.
I gained my education by way of the Atlanta Public School System, I attended Cooper Street Elementary, Crawford W. Long Middle & George High School. I was a little “sneaky” as a young lady, and my first-born son came as a surprise to everyone at home. During the next season of my life, I met a lot of my lifelong friends while living in Capitol Homes in "Zone 3". I have always been affectionately known as "Tasha", or "Big O", my cousin Jack gave me that name.
All my career opportunities were inside of company kitchens. I worked for Pruitt Nursing Facility, Fulton County Jail (Rice Street), Dekalb County Jail, and several other jail facilities. I loved to cook, and everyone enjoyed my food. It was truly my passion. In addition to that, I loved my family. I was blessed with 3 beautiful children, Lil Man, Teekey, and Lil Ray. Motherhood was my greatest accomplishment. My legacy will live on through my children and my 9 beautiful grandchildren. They loved me dearly and I adored them just as much! Also, I will miss my Saturday sessions with my little sister Precious. We would use that time to catch up on everything happening in our lives, memories of our mother, and praying together.
On April 17, 2023, my life changed forever. However, my spirit was stronger than my circumstances. My persistence would not let my soul rest, but my heavenly Father called me home on April 23, 2024. My Earthly purpose was fulfilled, and I gained my heavenly position with my angels. I was preceded in death by my beautiful mother, Deborah Harrison.
I leave to cherish in loving memory my legacy, my children, Christopher Harrison (Shandrina), Lateekey Harrison, and Ramon Frazier Jr; my loving grandchildren Chris Wilson, Nathaniel Reynolds, Nattoine Harrison, Na'Riyah Reynolds, Chance Harrison, Chase Harrison, Sanii Harrison, Chozen Harrison, and Ramon Frazier III; my strong sister Jerri "Precious" Little, my only nephews Wildrego Jackson and D'Mir Glover; my supportive aunt Leola “Cookie” Bentley, and my uncles Joseph Bonner, Nathan “Pookie” Jackson, (Nell) Clarence Harrison (Yvonne), Ralph Harrison and Kenneth "P-Red” Harrison. I have a host of beloved cousins, extended family, and friends that will miss me as well.
My smile was known to light up a room, so feel free to use in your darkest hour. My memories will last a lifetime. I love you all!
