In Loving Memory of Jeffrey Lee September 20, 2025, | Age 69 Jeffrey Lee passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, at the age of 69, following a gradual decline in health. Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Jeffrey attended local grade schools and graduated from Phillips High School. Shortly after, he proudly served his country in the United States Army as a 42A Human Resources Specialist, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, for three years.
Upon returning to Birmingham, Jeffrey dedicated his working years to Alabama Paper & Metalware, Hubbard Properties, and ultimately Fairfield City Schools, where he served as a Utility Maintenance worker. His strong work ethic and warm personality left a lasting impression on colleagues and community members alike.
Jeffrey was a man who never met a stranger. His infectious laughter, quick wit, and love for conversation made him the heart of every gathering. Weekends were filled with joy at his in-laws’ home, where friends and family came together to play cards, share stories, and create cherished memories. With camera in hand, Jeffrey captured countless moments—preserving the laughter and love that defined his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bertha Lee, and his sister, Barbara Lee.
Jeffrey is survived by his devoted wife, Laneldra Faye Hammell Lee; sons Gregory L. Hammell and Joshua Crawford; daughters Tamika Turner and Carita Oakes; sisters Anna Fletcher, Marie Coleman, Virginia Jackson, Yolanda Lee, and Lawanda Larkin; brother Donald Lee; thirteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Jeffrey’s legacy lives on through the joy he brought to others, the memories he captured, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
