James Eugene Montalbano, Jr.—affectionately known as Jimmy—passed away on July 23, 2025, at the age of 70, after a period of declining health, including a courageous battle with dementia.
Jimmy was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and grew up in Forest Park. He spent the majority of his life in Shelby County, Alabama, before recently relocating back to Georgia to be near his daughter and family.
He was a beloved son, father, grandfather, and recently, a proud great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Eugene Montalbano, Sr. and Willodine Johnson Montalbano.
Jimmy is survived by his devoted daughter, Misty Harmon, and her husband, Chad Harmon; his grandsons, Jordan Harmon (wife Taylor Smith Harmon) and Gavin Harmon (wife Angela Davis Harmon); and his great-granddaughter, Scottie Lynn.
Jimmy will be remembered for his wild spirit and his zest for life. He was a partier at heart—always up for a good time, a cold beer, and a plate of great Italian food. He loved deeply—especially his only daughter, Misty—and missed his parents dearly. He cared fiercely for his friends, his pets, and his extended family. Though life handed him more downs than ups, he never passed up a reason to celebrate. His laugh, his stories, and his fierce loyalty will never be forgotten.
