Hattie Mae Roundtree Randolph

Hattie Mae Roundtree Randolph, affectionately known as "Aunt Mae," passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, at the age of 76. She was born on April 19, 1948, in East Palatka, Florida, to the late Ned and Hattie Walls Roundtree.

Aunt Mae was educated in East Palatka, where she spent her early years. She later moved to Poughkeepsie, New York, where she resided with her siblings for over 40 years. Afterward, she relocated to Jesup, Georgia, where she lived with her loving and dedicated sister, Gladys Johnson. Following Gladys' passing, Aunt Mae went to live with her great-niece, Sherries Johnson Reed, of Atlanta, GA who cared for her until her passing.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rebecca Walls, Robert and Cora Roundtree, as well as her beloved husband, Scratch Randolph; siblings Orlando & Annette Roundtree, Robert Sr. & Rosie Roundtree, and Gladys & Charles Johnson Sr., her nieces and nephews Clarissa & Dorothy Roundtree, Robert Roundtree Jr., Seth Johnson, Barbrann Inge, Deloris Walker, and Cora McKenzie.

Her memory lives on in the hearts of her extended family: Margaret & Donnell Bennermon (NY), Annie Mae & Shawn Gamble (GA), Linda Braxton (NY), Tony Johnson (NC), Charles & Angela Johnson (NY), Michael & Marites Roundtree (FL), Ned & Stephanie Roundtree (CA), Jerome Roundtree (NV), Obie & Pam Roundtree (WI), Archie & Phyllis (CA), and Yvette Boone (NY). 

One of the most special relationships Aunt Mae shared was with Carmma Goss, a caregiver at Lake City Nursing. Though Carmma was not her biological daughter, the bond they shared blossomed into a mother-daughter relationship filled with love. Aunt Mae’s face would light up whenever Carmma entered the room, reminding everyone that family is made through love, not just blood.

Aunt Mae also shared a close bond with her great-niece, Sherries Johnson Reed, and her great-great-niece, Serenity Johnson Reed. She was adored by her great-great-great-nieces and nephews: Nevaeh, Aunistee, Miracle, Penny, Journii, Jordan, Anari, Lamia, Sincere, and Cortevius, who all loved spending time with her.

Aunt Mae is survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will continue to cherish her memory.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Lake City Nursing for the loving care Aunt Mae received during her time there. Special thanks go to her roommate and best friend, Sandra Miller, for being by her side during her final moments. The family would also like to extend their appreciation to Brightmoor Hospice for their compassionate support.
