Doris Thrasher Thomas was born May 31, 1921 in Madison, Georgia to Ed and Arnita Thrasher. She transitioned to be with the Lord on May 10, 2021 in Marianna, Florida just three weeks short of her 100th birthday. Doris attended Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated with the class of 1939. Doris married Frederick Thomas in 1948 and moved to Jones Ave. Where they shared the house with her mother-in-law. Doris lived here until health issues and age forced her to move to Florida with her devoted niece Michelle. She worked for Clouts Food Store and Village Kitchen on Peachtree Rd. for several years, where she later retired.
Doris was known for baking and her catering talents, the family favorites was pound cakes and potato salad, she enjoyed traveling with her brother Bobby, word find puzzles and watching game shows except when the braves were being televised. Doris was always a loving and supporting mother, sibling the one that would nurse her family back to health.
Doris was a faithful member of Greater Springfield Baptist Church for 30 plus years, where she severed on the Mother's Board, she was recognized in 2009 for GSBC Spotlight for Queens Avenue, in her recognition she stated that she is a real child of God and when she missed church she was lost, she enjoyed the Sunday Sermons by Pastor Wheeler.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband: Frederick Thomas, her parents Ed & Arnita Thrasher, son Edward L. Jenkins, daughter Brenda J. Amey; three sisters; Betty Joe Thrasher, Juanita Clower (Edward). Gertrude Davis (AJ).two brothers; Eddie Thrasher Jr., Bobby (Big Bobby) Thrasher and great granddaughter Christina Baber.
Doris leaves to cherish her beautiful memories six grandchildren Trinise Thomas (Leon). Chiliquila Ogletree (Wilburt), Reginald Jenkins (Raydean). Stephen Jenkins and Milton Amey Jr. Cynthia Wilson, 13 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren, nieces Pat Chandler (Jimmy). Gail Hutchinson, Paula Heath, Michelle Clower & Portia Davis and a host devoted close friends.
Our beloved Doris will be missed dearly. Her memory and love will live forever in our hearts and her spirit will dwell in our soul for eternity.
