Carlmichael (Mike) Wright was born on Monday, November 29, 1948 in Greensboro, Georgia to the late Rosalee and Lorenzo Wright. Mike relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio with his parents at the age of 7. He graduated from Robert A. Taft High School. Mike left home in 1967 to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married his wife, Jackie (Davis) Wright, in Cincinnati on June 16, 1967 where they raised their son Michael Lamont Wright. He was blessed with three grandsons and five great grandchildren. He attended First Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an usher.
Mike spent the last 44 years of his life in College Park, Georgia. His home was filled with the loving memories of his mom which he cherished deeply. He was surrounded by the love and support of his family everyday, including his Cincinnati family which he communicated with almost daily throughout the years. Each laugh, adventure, comforting thought, and undertaking of support was a true testimony to their bond and love for one another. Music was Mike’s passion and one of his favorite pastimes was signing with and for his family.
Mike passed away on January 18, 2021 from congestive heart failure at Fulton Center for Rehabilitation in Atlanta, Ga. He died knowing he was wrapped in the love of his family and friends. He was 72 years old.
Mike is survived by his beloved Jackie (Davis) Wright, son Michael Lamont Wright (Mae); brothers William (Margo), Dusty, Don, Carter and Dana Wright; his grandchildren Michael Lamont Jr., Zinima Lee, and Justin Hambrick; great grandchildren Mikayla Deborah, Michael Lamont III, Zinima Lee Jr., Ziaries Kenneth, and Zoelle Kallie; step-mother Delores Wright; and a host of neices, nephews, family, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Rosalee and Lorenzo Wright and his brother Johnny Myles Wright.
