Kenneth Powell Obituary

Kenneth Bernard Powell embraced his final rest on April 11, 2024, leaving behind a legacy defined by love and resilience. Born on June 17, 1957, in Fulton County, Georgia, Kenneth was the cherished son of the late John Louis Powell, Sr., and the late Willie Mae Powell. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Clinton Bryant, Billy Powell, Victor Antonio Powell, Ruby Lee Wilson, John Louis Powell, Jr., and Jimmy Lee Bryant, Sr.

Kenneth discovered his faith at a young age and became a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Samuel Howard Archer High School in Atlanta, Georgia. He was affectionately known as “Willup” & “The Washing Machine Man”. An entrepreneur at heart, Kenneth excelled in repairing appliances and found joy in spending time with his beloved family. He was a skilled baseball player and even made headlines in the newspaper as the first recreational player to pitch a no-hitter in Georgia.

Over 50 years ago, Kenneth met the love of his life, Donna Faye Gray in Poole Creek. Together, they raised a family filled with talent and determination: Kristi Powell (Alvin, Jr.), Armanesia Gray, Kenneth Gray (Nadra), Corderius Gray, Demetrius Gray, Kendrick Gray (Ambreanca), and Prinnce Salter; He is also survived by his mother-in-love, Lamerle Gray; brothers, Michael Powell, and Cedric Powell: sisters, Shirley (Frankie) Warren, Francine (Nathan) Jackson, Cynthia (Ivan) Stinson, Benita (Miguel) Hall, Patricia Cooper (cousin/sister); sisters-in-law, Lorene Bryant, Angela Powell, and Veltena Jordan; aunts, Annie B. Powell, Bertha (Fred) Jeter, Lizzie (Lee “EL”) Brown, Mary Brooks, and Charlie Maude Bryant; as well as precious grandchildren, great-grandchildren, god family, beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Today as we pay tribute to Kenneth’s life, let us carry forward his legacy of love and fortitude, and rejoice in the profound impact he had on all who knew him.
